Numbers-Phoenicia and the Bible

As we read Numbers 13, we meet the Phoenicians among other tribes. Exactly who were they? The Metropolitan Museum of Art has an interesting link which talks about this fascinating group of people who intersected with King David and King Solomon and over the centuries with the tribes of Israel. Read more about “the Phoenicians… famed as “traders in purple,” referring to their monopoly on the precious purple dye derived from the shells of murex snails” which also served as the dye used in the priestly garments in Jerusalem.
