Flesh versus the Spirit

Some wise advice gleaned from Beth Brunemier, born to missionary parents in China, who went onto serve as a nurse among Tibetan refugees in Nepal. She was one of our prayer warriors, now with the Lord, who started a woman’s prayer group called the mountain movers–and mountains they moved by their prayers to our mighty God. They did business with God. Her notes were always full of wise advice drawn from her study of the Word. She often spoke of the Authority of the Believer which went unrecognized by most Christians and totally changed her life of intercession drawn from Ephesians 1:20-21:

“He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come.”

Ephesians 2:6, “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ, (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come, He might show the exceeding riches of His grace and His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”

I was perusing one of the books our Auntie Beth Brunemier had contributed long ago by Donald Grey Barnhouse on “The Invisible War, the Panorama of the Continuing Conflict between Good and Evil” and read her comment on the inside cover which contains some mighty good advice.

It read, “An old Navajo believer, Abraham Manygoats, tells his experience: “Before I became a Christian, a black dog lived inside my heart. Then one day Jesus came and saved me. Then a white dog came in my heart. Before the white dog came everything quiet. After I was saved, black dog and white dog fight. White dog on top–everything all right; black dog on top–everything go wrong.”

Dr. H.A. Ironside then asked him how he resolved the situation.

He replied: “Feed white dog.”
