As we read Numbers 13, we meet the Phoenicians among other tribes. Exactly who were they? The Metropolitan Museum of Art has an interesting link which talks about this fascinating group of people who intersected with King David and King Solomon and over the centuries with the tribes of Israel. Read more about “the Phoenicians… famed as “traders in purple,” referring to their monopoly on the precious purple dye derived from the shells of murex snails” which also served as the dye used in the priestly garments in Jerusalem.

“How John MacArthur began (and ended) His 42 Year Journey”

When Pastor MacArthur received the call and started preaching at the age of 29 on February 9, 1969 at Grace Community Church, I was 18 and finishing up my last semester as a senior just down the street at James Monroe High School.
Although my spiritial path took me down a circuitous path far afield from Christianity into Buddhism and the New Age, I had an encounter with many Christians over many years and after a serious accident in Japan in 1981, began a search for answers which lead me through Astrology, New Age, and Hindu practices until I ran into several Christians who presented me with the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in 1984 at which time I and my wife were drawn by Christ into His marvelous kingdom. After being saved in a nurturing little Nazarene Church lead by Pastor Clarence Crites, I was lead by the Holy Spirit to attend Grace Community Church in 1985 for more in depth Bible teaching along with my wife and growing family. I was blessed this year (2019)to celebrate Dr. MacArthur’s 50th anniversary as Pastor of Grace Community Church. This fall I will also be attending my 50th Class reunion at James Monroe with several friends who are also members of Grace Community Church!
