Nehemiah and God’s Story
Pastor John Piper delivers one of the most powerful and clear messages examining the tension between God’s righteousness and mercy and our ongoing sin and rebellion, I have ever heard in my Christian life from the Book of Nehemiah. What a Redeeming God we serve who has given us a new heart and forgiven our sin if we believe in Him and His divine work on the cross at Calvary. He indeed is our Passover Lamb.
Rebuilding the Wall

Rebuilding the Wall in Jerusalem. The Book of Nehemiah. “The Tower of Hananeel (or Hananel; חננאל hanan’e-el, chanan’-el, “El (God) is gracious”) is a tower in the walls of Jerusalem, adjoining the Tower of Meah (or Hammeah: “the Tower of the Hundred”) to the east connecting to the “sheep gate”. It is mentioned in Nehemiah 3:1; 12:39. It is located on the northern wall section of the old city, near the northeastern corner, a point of the city always requiring special fortification and later the sites successively of the Hasmonean Baris and of the Antonia Fortress.” -Wikipedia
The Walls of Jerusalem
Working on my EGL lesson for Tuesday evening on the Book of Nehemiah and looking at the gates and walls of Jerusalem. This tour guide does a splendid job of providing an overview of the City as it was and is today. Fascinating expose by Asaf Salomon, Tour Guide, East Jersualem, Development, Ltd. for i24 News English Channel.
The Office of Cupbearer
Dr. Walter Sollabeyer from LMU in Munich, Germany provides an interesting and in-depth understanding of the office of the King’s Cupbearer to assist us in grasping what it was like for Nehemiah to be the cupbearer for the Persia King Artaxerxes I Longimanus (465-425 B.C.).
The Book of Nehemiah Chapter 7 read by Alexander Scourby
This is the genealogy of those Jews who had come up out of Babylon in the first return with Zerubbabel after their captivity back to Jerusalem.
