In today’s reading in Genesis 36:1-14 we read of Esau’s genealogy in which Amalek is embedded who shows up across the pages of Scripture and up to this very day as an enemy of Israel, of God’s people, and an enemy of God.
“Now Timna was the concubine of Eliphaz, Esau’s son, and she bore Amalek to Eliphaz. These were the sons of Adah, Esau’s wife.” -Genesis 36:12
In alignment with our Torah passage today, we read 1 Samuel 30 about David’s conflict with the Amalekites.
An article to be read carefully, although a few statements about God were disconcerting to me. Meaning, I am not quite sure where this author is coming from theologically. At the same time his discourse about Amalek demonstrates a biblical wrestling over this enemy of God born into Esau’s line which is well worth the read.
Read with discernment.
